Can you guys recommend any movies similar in feel to Brick? I'm absolutely in love with it and want to relive the experience in as many ways, as I can... I assume that Maltese Falcon would be a common answer, but are there any newer movies in the same genre/feel/vein? Thanks for your help!

It's not really such a new film, but River's Edge from 1986 sort of has a similar feel to Brick. It's a story about teenagers f***ing up very badly, and it stars Keanu Reeves and Crispin Glover. If you love Brick I think you should check it out!

If you haven't seen Miller's Crossing, I'd start there. The Big Sleep is the other film noir biggie. Welcome to the forum! 8)

Oddly enough I'd suggest Sin City if you haven't seen it already. It has a stylized feel and I have successfully watched that and Brick as a double-feature. Chinatown is also great - not as dark in feel but arguably much darker in subject matter.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Gee, I never thought I'd be welcomed by a movie director - thanks a lot Rian!
Thank you for all your suggestions, I'm getting the movies ASAP (Chinatown specifically, since Roman Polanski is from Poland too).
Pardon me, if the question is ridiculous, but will Brothers Bloom too be a noir-like movie?

Brothers Bloom is more of a con man caper film.

I'm not as exciting as Rian, but welcome anyway :)

Geez, what's the big deal? Movie directors are a dime a dozen on this forum.

Would that be a quarter a dozen, or a quarter each? Because I could totally use a quarter...

my state quarter collection is nearly complete...

Oh, and welcome new friend!

Interesting idea for a site. Not sure how accurate it is, because I haven't seen many of the films it recommended. Not really sure how Scott Pilgrim relates to Brick, or ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, for that matter.

Impeccable timing, Jesse.

I say watch The Conformist.

What's a dī-ˈrek-tər? And why do they get paid a quarter of a dozen dimes?

Quite a few of these flicks are just "indie" films that were released within a few years of Brick, with young male actors in Joe's generation. Not many are actually "similar."
