I had my phone next to my bed and was woken up by their tweet at 8:49am announcing that the records were on sale, and had completed my purchase by 8:53. So yeah, I got a copy. And I wasn't TOO crazy; the version with the 7" was gone before the day was out. I'm honestly surprised that the LP set is still available.

Did anyone see them say how many copies were made of each? I feel like I never saw that printed anywhere.

Edit: Apparently the Jurassic Park set sold out inside 15 minutes. Goddamn.

I woke up at like 10:00 EST and the 7" was sold out. I'm a sad panda.

Wait, 10am EST is 7am PST. They didn't even release it until 8:49am PST.

You did know that they were releasing it on the 23rd, right? Are you talking about Wednesday?

I'm sorry, buddy. Guess you got the days mixed up :(

To answer the earlier question of why it's so expensive: It's a limited run of a two-LP set on 180 gram vinyl (read: audiophile stuff, v fancy), with a fancy custom sleeve and handmade art jacket. New releases on vinyl tend to be between $20-30, so $60/70 for something this specialized and collectible makes sense to me.

And, whenever shit is this flip-able, the seller tends to jack the price up a bit (justifiably so). It's only fair they get some of that money.

...Okay, but the whole point of my post above is that the price isn't "jacked up"? I mean, I don't work for Mondo, I haven't seen their cost breakdown. Maybe highly-specialized vinyl costs a lot less to manufacture, license, and advertise than one would expect.

I mean it's not that jacked up, I just had to go for a walk and buy another vinyl before I realized I needed to buy this because it's one of the best damn scores of the past 10 years. (there I said it). Actually the most frustrating part for me is the fact that this thing will take 4-6 weeks to ship. So at least I'll get it by Thanksgiving.

I got all excited because I received a shipping notification yesterday, which was much faster than I was expecting...but it still only says "shipping label created" at 7am yesterday, so now I am suspicious.

Yeah I ain't got nothing in terms of no shipping. Amazon has spoiled me evidently. I'm gonna go order some socks.

Even though the shipping notification was sent out super early on the 1st, it didn't update to show it arriving in Washington until late tonight. It could arrive tomorrow, but I'm thinking Wednesday is more likely. I'm still going to check my PO box tomorrow, just in case :D

Should I do an unboxing video? I've never done one, but I feel like it'll be worth it just to capture me nerding the fuck out.

IT'S HERE!!

The packaging is just gorgeous across the board. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who ordered and hasn't gotten theirs yet, but they did a great job. Mine did arrive slightly damaged, but I e-mailed Mondo and they've already gotten back to me, so hopefully they'll replace the damaged part.

The thing that bums me out the most is that my record player is on its last legs. It's a pretty cheap model so I don't know if it's repairable, but it wobbles and speeds up randomly. Still, the record sounds great.

I did record video of me opening the box, but I haven't done anything with it yet. I'm getting the keys to my new place tomorrow, so I probably won't have time to edit video for the next week. If I decide it's not worth sharing publicly, I might just toss the unedited video up as an unlisted video for anyone who asks.
