Rian ,

First off, great job on Looper. It was an amazing film and the script was awesome. I was wondering if you ever plan on doing a short-film/feature film focusing more on "The Rainmaker"? Secondly, it's pointed out in the film/script that TK's (Except for The Rainmaker) can't really do much with their power.

I was wondering why "The Rainmaker" is so powerful compared to other TK's.

Thanks,

Mr. Glass

P.S. I downloaded your commentary for the film, and I thought it was cool that you cited the graphic novel "Domu" as an influence on the film's TK sub-plot.

I am currently developing a series for FX called "The Rainmaker"

It takes place in a parallel New Orleans universe in timeline 2 where the Rainmaker wins.

The Rainmaker is so powerful because he makes it rain, simple as that. Similar to making it rain, the rainmaker makes it rain TK all over those punk a$$ b$tches, but he has one weakness. Similar to when a normal human makes it rain, the rainmaker makes out his TK credit card too quickly and thusly loses his power for a very short period of time before he can get a new line of credit.

Oh 'snake, you lovable scamp.

Now, I can't actually remember if Rian ever addressed this in the post-release twitterstorm of questions, and finding out might be a bit like finding a needle in a tweetstack. However, one clue is that Sara is also unusually powerful; she spins a zippo elegantly through the air with ease, whereas Seth seems to need to really focus to make a single coin hover waveringly in his hand. Joe expresses surprise at her ability, so we know this is uncommon. It's possible that Cid is just the TK equivalent of a prodigy. Pair that with a good old-fashioned temper, and you got yourself a Rainmaker.

Or mix vodka and lime juice (with a dash of grenadine of you want a purple rainmaker).

If Nathan hasn't already invented a fancy ass cocktail called a Rainmaker, I'll eat my hat.
