Any speculation as to whether Rian will officially or unofficially continue the tradition of providing us with a very special audio track of film nerd commentary to listen to as we watch E8 for the third or fourth times?

edit:  i swear, i login here to ask this question every few years or so about each of his films, hopefully I haven't asked this already for Star Wars.

I think I recall him saying on Twitter that he'd try to do it.

Yeah, that's it. I was too lazy to look for it when I initially replied.

We're trying to figure out a way to do it. It's a little trickier on this scale, though now with phones being the main way folks listen to stuff, it should be easier.

Things we want to avoid include: people with their glowing phones out in theaters, and people with their glowing phones out in theaters.

Most phones have play/pause built into the headphones, so you could always do a few minutes' intro, and say "When the music hits and the opening crawl's last line shows up, hit play USING THE BUTTON ON YOUR HEADPHONES DON'T TAKE YOUR PHONE BACK OUT JERKS."

And advise people to turn the brightness down on the screen. That would make a huge difference, too.

The problem there is that they all are usually set to auto-brightness, so even when manually turned down, in the dark they brighten up to compensate. Source: I'm a dork and look at these things, and I keep my phone brightness really low for battery reasons.

Watching Looper with friends, all with the in-theater commentary playing on our headphones was such a fun experience. I really hope this happens.

Maybe movie theaters could rent special audio devices like you can get in art museum tours to add the extra audio for a small fee.
That way you could prevent the possibility of the device disrupting the film for others.
