Ok, will Rey and Ben end up hooking up? What ballpark chances do you give it?

I'm far from the 'shipping' crowd, but I think that it might be a neato plot development.

I hope and imagine not, but it's certainly possible!

I interpret Ben killing his father as the solidification of his villain-arch. Through-out 7 he faced the same doubts Luke & Anakin wrestled with... and ultimately chose the dark side. I'm not looking to see Han's killer redeemed. I can't imagine a scenario where he & Rey end up as an item without him first "seeing the light" or something, and that seems unlikely at this point - as does Rey flopping to the Dark Side. But I'm open to surprises!

I think it's definitely possible.

>Kylo begins to fall for Rey
>Draws him back to the light
>Betrays Snoke and becomes Ben again
>Ben and Rey hook up.

Not saying that this is what I want to happen, or what I think will happen. It's just an interesting possibility imo.

I had a long post with quotes from ROTJ of the "give in to your anger" and "I feel the good in you, father" stuff, but it got ate. My personal theory, shipping aside, is that Kylo feels himself turning good and has tantrums and (spoiler!) kills his pops in order to stay bad. Rey may or may not be part of the puzzle that eventually (imo) redeems him, but I think that it's really weak writing to have every main character wind up with a romantic connection to every other main character.

Put another way, if one or two movies down the line they do end up together it puts the interrogation scene into the light of their "first flirtation", which, particularly as S&M as that would be, is gross. Where if, say, Rey ascends to massive power as a Jedi/Other New Thing As The Title Infers and the peak of her story is to finish his redemption arc, either by welcoming him back into the fold or killing him (as he begs for death) before he does evil again, it's significantly better storytelling.

They're gonna end up being brother and sister and I'm personally going to knock and JJs door and ask him why.

The only thing worse is when everyone is biologically related

I feel like everyone being involved in romances with everyone isn't really something that plagues Star Wars too badly. But being related, yeah, that happens a lot.

Quite the opposite, you have remained on the straight and narrow my friend. I envy you.
