Just consumed most of, if not all, the special features. Thought there'd be more conversation here, but I'm in the mood for blogging. read as: avoiding screenwriting
so I thought I'd chime in here.
There's a lot of Rian here. His face is on the cover of the blu-ray. It's kind of amazing. Director and the Jedi is a great feature. It's a lot of Ram looking at the calendar, which is amazing, I don't think I've seen the amount of preproduction shown in a feature documentary. But it shows just how insane this production was. 142 set pieces I think? Honestly it just increases my respect for this film, I just thought ILM got THAT good. A lot of times I look at Marvel productions and it feels 100% ILM. This behind-the-scenes is more like Lord of the Rings. What's surprising about set-pieces, costumes, sets, practical effects. GUYS the MILK CREATURE is REAL. They flew it across the OCEAN on a Helicopter.
Also as someone who is looking for Rian's like dolly language here. I swear I saw a move that was similar to Tug in the parking lot. Anyway, happy to own it. This release is insane, since it's also on some app called Movies Anywhere. There's a score only version on the app, and that's actually where I realized how much of this is just Metropolis.
Finally..the commentary has a lot of incite into the edit. Sounds like it was a similar post process to Bloom and Looper (From what I've heard). Good incites into the pace. Always get a cutaway of BB-8.
Anyway, cheers all. I'm a huge nerd. But not old enough to appreciate infocom games.
