This is never a hard decision. Paying that much for digital will always seem insane to me.

What's your breaking point for digital? I just spent $25 on Atlanta season 2.

Well I get a lot of free digital copies, so I guess that throws everything off, but when the digital is so close price-wise to the physical, I feel like I'd much prefer the blu ray.

I've bought a bunch of digital movies/seasons for five bucks, though, and there are certain things that ridiculously aren't even available physically that I've spent plenty on. I haven't pirated anything in years (since high school), so I spend way too much money on media.

Dude I told a friend that I don't pirate stuff because I think it's wrong. Yeah told me that was ridiculous because of market incentive. "Why would you go out to the movies when you could watch them at home?" I tried to explain the appeal of the theater, the appeal of just opening an app and looking at your library. Instead of a file name. But no. Anyway haven't heard from that guy in like 8 months. I think the appeal of the Blu-ray is having it on the shelf. But next to Looper or next to Force Awakens?

I'm against streaming because a roommate and I got WAY into Party Down a few years back, getting drunk and mashing episodes into our eyes. We reached the end of the first season in a night or two (probably one night; we were going through a lot of wine at the time), and set out to embark on Season Two the next night, when news broke that it wasn't getting renewed for a third season.

When we opened Netflix, we were greeted with "Get Party Down Season Two exclusively on DVD now!"

So that's how I feel about streaming.

Alphabetical by director is something I've considered for a while, but I own too many shitty 90s comedies to go through with it.

I used to have them by director, until I wanted to watch Aladdin and literally had NO IDEA. Then I arranged them by colour of the DVD cover spine. This has somehow worked for me, and I’ve since been able to find any film from out of the 1000 to 1500 or so that I own in two seconds. Unconciously you just know those designs I guess. Also, it looks fun.

This is cool. I own about 8 or 900, but maybe I'll try this and we can compare photos!

I've also always wanted to do "autobiographical" like in High Fidelity.

My library is "TV alphabetical by title", "films alphabetical by director" (which I find helps me learn the directors of films that I don't know) with a separate section for boxsets of films with multiple directors. I actually have no idea where my Force Awakens DVD is now? I'm not sure if that gets filed under Abrams or under Star Wars. Probably the latter.

Yeah, there are definitely situations where cheating your own rules is appropriate. I have a whole series of shelves that are just Batman movies/shows.
