The White Stripes' covers of Captain Beefheart songs would certainly be on my "desert island" cd.

had not heard of such.
i would certainly include the original, viz. TROUT MASK REPLICA.
47 years on and for me it just keeps getting better.

curious timing.
i just signed on to the forum email for www.beefheart.com

I just wrote a *super* sad song about Star Trek last night, so that's a thing.

Did it take you months?

Where have you been?!?!

Songs usually do take me months, but also I have had a weird year (or three?). Sorry I was gone for so long, friends ^_^

Unfortunately that particular song still hasn't been "finished" (which is to say recorded), but I did release a couple of new songs since that last post. One's a love song about a fictional vaudeville performer ("My Honeybunch Lee") and the other's about breakups (all kinds!) ("Maybe It's You").

Also last May I did a month where I recorded a cover song every single day, except two when I posted originals. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun, so check it out if you're curious? Just go to my Patreon and scroll through. https://www.patreon.com/SarahShay/posts

My friend Megan is an amazing composer working in film. Here's her latest piece for string quartet.
