Figured we'd need another one of these. I trust Marc will repost his music here, but I know everyone's gonna have their movie lists ready soon, and some of you actually, you know, read books. I need to watch/listen to a few more things before I knock some of mine out, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys consumed last year!

Best New Podcasts - 2017

5. TV Avalanche: Alan Sepinwall (easily my favorite TV critic) and Brian Grubb talk TV. That's it. It's great because it gives you the timecodes in the episode descriptions so you can skip around to just the shows you watch.

4. Singsongers: Comedy writing legend (to me, at least) Dino Stamatopoulos reigns himself in and interviews artists I've mostly never heard of. Basically a looser, less angry WTF with much less famous, exclusively musical guest. Seems to be on a hiatus, but I really dig this one.

3. ESPN 30 For 30 Podcast: More consistently good than the films are, but never quite reached the highs of its visual counterpart. Still, two or three of these episodes were some of the best listens of the year for me.

2. Missing Richard Simmons: By the end it sort of petered out, but this was a great binge listen. Fascinating and entertaining if not as emotionally rewarding as I'd hoped, given the strong start.

1. S-Town: Far and away the most interesting and exciting podcast of the year for me. Knocked the entire thing out in one sitting, pausing it for about 5 minutes to place a food order. Can't wait to re-listen. Way better than it has any right to be.

Favorite... non-movies? I don't understand the question. (Okay, LCD Soundsystem's "American Dream" was a blast.)

Sadly I did not get to see anywhere near as many new releases in 2017 as I would have liked so a top anything list is pretty pointless. Instead I shall list all the films I saw that came out last year*, in a rough-ranking**.

Can't wait to re-watch
1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
2. Paddington 2
3. Baby Driver
4. The Big Sick
Would like to re-watch
5. Logan
6. La La Land
7. The Lego Batman Movie
Would happily re-watch
8. Wonder Woman
9. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Enjoyed once
10. Lucky Logan
11. It
12. Free Fire
Ugh
13. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

*I'm going by UK release date just to confuse everyone else on this site.
*The huge disclaimer is that there are several films I didn't see that I am sure could easily take one of the top three spots but for whatever reason I haven't got around to them.
