It was really weird and boring to see Joe in that relationship, which I guess was the point. It was so much more fun to watch him in Brick though.

I'm curious. What did you think was weird about it? And do you mean that Joe's character was boring? Certainly Tom Hansen wasn't as layered as Brendan, but I liked the film quite a lot.

well it says "this is not a love story"...I saw the whole movie as scenes of 2 people failing to love each other correctly. relatable but depressing. In Brick you get to see Joes whole inner landscape change ~on an exciting adventure~ and then in 500 days of summer you have to watch him suffer through this lukewarm deceptive time. I agree with you about Zooey being immune to hate though.

OH I FORGOT TO SAY Opening credits were amazing! Opening credits were SUPERIOR!
