I'm an aspiring filmmaker studying screenplays in an attempt to establish some foundation for my spec idea; though the Benjamin Button and Knocked Up screenplays are kinda helpful, I'd rather get one for a film I really enjoyed--The Brothers Bloom. Is this available anywhere for purchase?

Also, what's going on with the DVD? Is it actually out? I think I've read about possible release dates for every month in the coming six month period.

The DVD/blu-ray is available for rental in the States, but not for purchase until the beginning of January.

I'm going to put the Bloom script up on the web, I've been too busy with my next script to focus on it, but hopefully this week I'll get to it.

As another aspiring screenwriter, I'd be interested as well. I found a version on the interwebs that I'm not sure if it's official, or if it's even the final draft.

I did have sort of a question. The opening sequence, from the first shot on screen to the Title Sequence, is roughly six minutes (give or take a few seconds). Typically in screen writing, they (the experts, books, etc.) say a page is worth a minute of screen time.

However, the draft that I've seen, that sequence is fourteen pages. I realize some stuff got cut and trimmed, so it's more like 12 1/2 pages. How the heck did that work? Is that quick pacing figured out in editing?

The draft floating on the interwebs is an early one, I'm going to put an official one up soon.

Because of the interplay between the narrator and the action, the childhood sequence timed out quicker than the page count. But generally the 1 minute a page rule plays pretty fair.
