Just did the mp3 commentary in the movie theater and per Rian's instructions, here is a pic of my ipod and the closing credits. I may be the only person to actually do this, and the elderly couple in the row behind me may have thought I was a dvd bootlegger with my less-than-subtle over-the-ear headphones, but it was well worth it and I would recommend the commentary to everyone.

Rian, how about a film festival of dvd commentaries (best, and worst) next year at the New Beverly?

Loved loved loved the Brothers Bloom, and am astounded by your ability to address profound ideas and simultaneously create a gorgeous, entertaining film. I never thought it would be possible for a movie to include both Chanel sunglasses and an analysis of how self-representation and narrative contribute to identity. Well done!

This may be an obvious question, but how do you choose subjects to write about? Did you decide first to write a con man movie, then the thematic arc fell into place, or did you specifically set out to focus on storytelling and the subjectivity of experience, and the con man framework came later? And what’s your writing process? Does writing come easily to you or is it a struggle to sit down and write?

Btw, the picture may be too dark but my ipod is orange - what might that signify? :)

I just did this tonight, but since I was with my siblings I turned off the commentary when the credits started so we could geek out. I listened to the rest on the bus ride home and then shook my fist heavenward. Totally would have taken the picture.

Did you do the cough? The lady behind me made a weird tittering noise right at that moment, but that might have been a coincidence.

I almost did the cough, but it was only me and 2 elderly people in the theater, and I figured they thought I was weird enough. It would have been fun with a full theater of people listening though - an entire audience with one simultaneous cold. Did the commentary apply to your bus ride at all?

Yeah, ours was a Sunday matinee so there were only 10 or so other people in there. I did notice that there was an unusually high number of hats in the theater, though.

Caught the last showing of BB in Montclair, NJ. Thought it was the right time to try the commentary out. It was very awesome, Rian!

I was the only one that coughed. And I didn't use the bathroom.

The pic is very blurry, but I tried doing that 'path/exit way' thing you talked about in the commentary. But it's a very small theater, so it was hard to do.

Speaking of my filthy mouth: who thought it was totally adorable that Rian wouldn't cuss even though there was cussing in the film itself?

Yes, that's true, too! Unfortunately, that's all I can do with a broom.
