It'll be a longer wait, if this turns out to be so.
Apparently The Brothers Bloom is now getting its wide release on Jan. 16th.
However it's opening in LA & NYC Dec. 19th (obviously for 2008 Academy Awards qualification).

Was the film's distributor getting concerned about the Oct. 10th opening against Body of Lies (with Leonardo DiCaprio & Russell Crowe, and Ridley Scott directing)?
And the competition on Jan. 16 does look pretty weak (so far). So maybe a smart business move.

This is from Boxofficemojo.com (a great free site that typically pretty accurate). It's nice for current & past movie receipt info, plus has this upcoming film release stuff.

(excuse the table's formatting if it's off, please)

It's true. I'm sorry I didn't post it earlier, it was all very hush hush and still being talked out, I actually didn't think they were going to release it until next week.

There were a few reasons for the move: October and November are crowded as hell, it's a tough tough market, especially for a smart unique film like ours, and we'd have a week or two at the most to sink or swim. Whereas concentrating on a couple markets for awards consideration in December, then pushing the wide in the more open January slot just seemed like a better use of resources.

Mostly though, what convinced me it was a good idea was that it gives us more time to get more awareness of the movie out there. There are alot of films competing for attention, the more time I have to travel around to film festivals, do interviews, show and talk about the film, the better.

And that's the one consolation I can give: I'm going to be doing the rounds at a TON of regional US festivals, I'm hoping to hit nearly every big one that happens between now and the release. So if you live near a big city with a festival, chances are you'll get a shot at seeing it before January.

Which is good, right? (Ducking behind a chair...)

Well. It sucks that it's moved back, but all the reasoning makes sense. And it definitly needs to be in for Oscar consideration, or so me thinks. Aaaand I live in a major city with an upcoming film festival, so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to see it early anyway! So I'm not toooo upset. Here's to no more delays, though.

But now what can I go see Halloween weekend?
(d-e-f--d-e-f--e-d-e-f-g)
Ahh shit.

Wow, what a complete surprise that I totally did not know about. Yep, complete and utter shock over here. Definitely did not know about this already. Certainly did not hear about it a week or so ago.

*Assuming that is what she is supposed to do, myanne hands over all kind of things to marc, avoiding to take 2d6 dmg.*

But seriously,

in a crazy place where I live, we have two New Years, and the second is on January 14th. So, this might be a great New Year's present.

Ugh! Once I get my hands on the responsables for the delay! :x

Woah, what's with this poorly photoshopped picture? I thought Brody was a "bigger name" than Ruffalo?

And would you look at that: they used our own little forum as confirmation. How do you feel about the press quoting you off the forum, Rian?
