Do we know HOW WIDE the release is going to be? I mean is it going to be 2,000 theaters or like 3,000 theaters?

I think we're talking in the neighborhood of 800...

Okies, well HOPEFULLY it comes down here. Unfortunately that is unlikely.

800 is a pretty decent mid-sized release, it should be within reach of all but the most remote of us. For reference, Brick never played on more than 40 screens at once.

And if not, we'll get a VW van, paint it with flowers, dub it the "Bloom Bus" and caravan those unlucky remote souls across the country to their nearest megaplex. 8)

Ooooh. I'll toss in 15 dollars for Bio-Diesel if someone would swing by here.

That'd actually be a fantastic stunt. We should paint a yellow lamba on the side, though.

In my experience, if something opens on at least 100 screens, then most every major market will get it.

So, multiply that by eight, carry the two... your chances are pretty good. :)

I'm not sure where we'll play, probably not one of the art house theaters, but it will most likely be one theater in NY and one in LA. Very limited.

OK, but WHICH one in LA? I mean, it's almost here, and I want to go the first weekend and I neeeeeed to plan aheaddddd. So, WHERE in LA is it gonna be? prolly ArcLight hywd, like for the opening of Brick? And are you gonna be around?

It's not going to be the arclight. Because it's just a 1 week qualifying run it'll be in a smaller theater, I'm not sure which yet but I'll post it when I know...

Yeah, it was taken off the list a few weeks ago. It's getting really crowded with good flicks this last month of the year. My guess is Laemmle and that would fine but if it goes to The Landmark I won't be going. Mark Cuban isn't getting a dime from me. Glad I saw it at AFI Fest.

Oh? What did Mark Cuban do?

Donated thousands of dollars to support Prop. 8.

Oh? Can you document this? I have googled Cuban and Prop 8, and all that I keep getting is stuff about his insider trading thing, which (while not great and not equitable with what Martha Stewart got) isn't at all related to Prop 8.

Not saying you're wrong, but I've always seen Cuban as on the progressive side, so I was surprised to see this.

Whoops, those might have been totally baseless accusations on my part. Cuban owns Landmark Theaters. I was thinking of Alan Stock, who owns Cinemark Theaters. Cinemark operates a theater here in Chicago called Century Landmark, so you can hopefully understand my confusion. Sorry about that.
