CHICAGO, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Rachel Weisz, Darren Aronofsky, Common, Charlie Kaufman and Colin Hanks have agreed to attend the 44th Chicago International Film Festival, organizers said.

The festival is scheduled to run from Oct. 16 through Oct. 29 and is expected to showcase 116 feature films, 38 short and student films, and 18 documentaries. The movies come from more than 45 countries.

"For 44 years, we've been committed to taking you all across the globe to discover some of the most exciting cinema the world has to offer, right here in Chicago for two weeks only," Michael Kutza, founder and artistic director of the Chicago International Film Festival, said in a statement. "This isn't your typical Saturday night out at the movies -- these are once-in-a-lifetime events. And this year we've set up camp in a new Festival Village to create an even stronger sense of community where you can come out, see the films, meet the people who make them, mingle with your fellow film fans, and most importantly see the world in a whole new way."

Among the films scheduled to screen at the festival are "The Brothers Bloom," "The Wrestler," "Happy-Go-Lucky," "Slumdog Millionaire," "Synecdoche, New York," "Good," "O'Horten," "The Human Contract" and "The Great Buck Howard."

Oscar winner Sidney Poitier is to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award and recording artist Common is to be presented with an Emerging Artist Award, organizers said.

Fuck Yes!

Today is a good day.

Any word on what day BB will be showing, Rian? Of if you'll be making an appearance?

I'm really really really happy now.

And to answer my own question....

Also, apparently festival showings are really expensive. $40 to see the movie, or $100 to see the movie and go to the party. Wowzerz!

That said, I am totally dropping $100 for this. Worth it. :D

Oh Yeah? Who are we expecting? My imagination is running wild!

I will be satisfied with nothing less then Bruce Lee, Vladamir Putin, Edward Nortan in full "Smoochy" costume, and Fritz Lang.

Actually, it's the Geico Gecko, Kelly Ripa, Trig Palin, the ghost of Mac Dre, and me. We're uh...really special?

I am most definitly going. Bought my tickets on Sunday. Row C, seat 102. Plus, admission to the sweet party. It's my Birthday present to myself!I will most definitly take pictures, and probably video as well.

With all this talk of red carpets and cocktails, Marc wonders if he's going to have to put on a tie...

At this rate, everyone in the forum will have seen it before the release date... and before me. But Sarah will be the last to see it, catching it on DVD.

Some very nice pics, Tsukasa.

I was there too, sans camera, unfortunately. Although he did sign my programme, which was mighty of him. It says "Donnacha - you have a cool name - Rian Johnson"

The afterparty was kinda nuts. I think people are still in line at the bar right now.

Nice! It was great getting to meet Mr. Tsukasa face to face (and have you seen the movie page of the Tribune today? YOU'RE ON IT! Right behind Rachel! Congrats, kid.)

Donnacha actually busted out his drivers license for me, for the sake of spelling. It is indeed a very cool name.
