I thought it would be prudent to include a thread with all the DVD info in this subforum. Let me know if I forgot anything.

The Brothers Bloom is available on DVD and Blu-Ray as of September 29, 2009. Officially the release is a rental exclusive, with copies available at your local cool independent video rental establishment, in addition to Blockbuster, Hollywood, NetFlix, and RedBox.

It's available for rental in Standard and Hi-Def digital download on the PlayStation Network, and is "On Demand."

The official release date for purchase is January 9, 2010 in the states and October 6, 2009 in Canada, because apparently Canada really is better than us in every way. Amazon.com still doesn't have official pages with release dates, but Amazon.ca has both. The Blu-Ray is currently cheaper than the standard disc, FYI.

All current versions of the DVD have the same features, whether they are US or Canadian, Blu-Ray or standard. The only benefit of the Canadian disc is that the cover has the French title on it, which is always amusing.

Reports suggest that Blockbuster's "rent-to-buy" program can be used to obtain the video prior to official release. When you rent the movie, your receipt will tell you a date when your card will be charged for the remaining amount of the DVD, after which it is yours.

And that, friends, is everything you need to know about obtaining your very own in-home Bloom experience! Enjoy!

Thanks for the sum-up, Sarah.

I just watched some of the blum-ray for the first time, and the picture quality is really gorgeous.

I honestly haven't made the big jump into blu yet, I mostly still get DVDs, but having seen what a good disc can look like with material I'm very familiar with, I think I'm finally sold.

It's also on-demand.

It's available for rental in Standard and Hi-Def digital download on the PlayStation Network, as well.

The fact that it's available for regular retail purchase in Canada NOW and not here (country of original release) until January is beyond silly. sigh...
